Brianna's Dreams: I just Want to Know by Debra Davis

Debra Davis brings to life a story written about a little girl named Brianna. Deeply rooted abandonment issues lead Brianna to question the absence of not having her biological parents and other family members in her life. This book is a powerful tool in helping children and adults understand Social Emotional Development through the lenses of a child.

This heartfelt, thought-provoking book can be used as an effective resource in teaching social skills for any child who has experienced abandonment issues such as: children of parents who are incarcerated, families who have or are going through divorce, and children who have experienced any type of adverse trauma experience.

Through Brianna’s expressive, colorful ways of questioning her situation, readers will be able to explore new methods of developing Social Emotional Learning, while growing, healing and exploring. Brianna’s Dreams was written by Debra Davis; illustrated by G. Perkins and it’s now available to be purchased from amazon.

Book Reviews

Here is what people have to say about “Brianna’s Dreams”:

Brianna’s Dream/ I Just Want to Know is a book about a young girl’s wonder and discovery of identity and connection. She dreams of her family appearance or moments that they might share. I enjoyed the moments of wonder described and the colorful illustrations that followed. Debra was able to capture the mind of a child who has a limited view of themselves and distorted thoughts about their background. This book would engage young readers who struggle with self-identity, emotional uncertainty, and limited social connection. As children discover themselves through curiosity, they need a way to connect to the world around them, Brianna’s Dream/ I Just Want to Know will support their journey.

I absolutely adored reading Brianna’s story. She is such a brave little girl. There are so many children just like her with unanswered questions. They just want to know. The illustrations were very perfect for the story line.

Mrs. Davis's book sheds light on the many complicated questions and feelings my young adopted clients express in counseling, even after they have found their forever home. Brianna’s Dreams/ I Just Want to Know will be on my bookshelf as a resource to help parents understand the feelings and lives of their adopted or foster children and to show young clients that they are not alone in “ just wanting to know.”

I just read Brianna's Dreams/ I Just Want To Know. This story and its wonderful illustrations touched me so much. As the mother of several adopted children, this book is so vital in answering their questions. I spent many hours talking to them about their young lives and their birth families. Having a book like this allows them to know that they are not alone. Debra Davis has certainly captured what every child needs in finding their place in the world...answers. I hope everyone, especially educators, adoptive parents and foster parents will make sure Brianna's Dreams: I Just Want To Know is a part of each child’s library. I loved the book. Wish I had it when my children were young.
